2009-PRESENT
RIT HAND LETTERING CLUB FACULTY ADVISOR

I started this club for all RIT students who have an interest in learning/practicing
hand lettering and using their skills for class projects and to assist RIT
and external organizations.

2012-PRESENT
IMAGINE RIT POSTER DESIGN CONTEST COMMITTEE MEMBER

I serve as an Imagine RIT Poster Design Contest Committee Member to create guidelines for the poster competition.

RIT KEEP ROCHESTER FACULTY ADVISOR

I created this club with two students whose interest in helping others was sparked by
a course project. The mission of this club is to assist victims of domestic violence by donating clothing and personal hygiene items, and by providing activities at shelters.

I meet with the magazine staff and board periodically to recommend workflow solutions for the magazine.

LOVIN’ LETTERS VALENTINES LETTERING AND CARD DESIGN EVENT COORDINATOR

I  created and coordinate this event with the RIT AIGA Student Chapter and the Hand Lettering Club for CIAS students.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS FOR THE CIAS COMMUNITY

I created this two hour workshop for students to learn more about and to experience working with analogue processes with instructors and experts from RIT. I held the first Hands-on Workshop, Juicy Letters, to provide the fundamentals of Chancery Cursive. This workshop had 20+ participants and was held on October 30, 2015

I created this event and Carol and I organized and produced the RIT-wide celebration
of analogue typographic processes.

I worked with Professor Karen Proctor of CAST to secure this mutual gift from ESKO.

I coordinate an annual panel discussion and after-party event for alumni to meet senior Graphic Design students in advance of Creative Industry Day, which is a job fair for CIAS students held annually at RIT.

EUREKA! SCHOOL OF DESIGN ROC REC INTERDISCIPLINARY DESIGN BLITZ CO-COORDINATOR/SECOND ANNUAL EVENT

September 17-19, 2015
The word EUREKA! is the exclamation made when one makes a discovery;
it is the motto of California, and it’s fun to say as a greeting. I organized the Blitz with the assistance of Kelly Murdoch-Kitt, and we received a PLIG Grant to provide funding. This annual 48 hour design blitz is open to School of Design students of all levels and disciplines who want to learn from each other and use their skills to initiate social change. This event’s prompt was for students to find ways to help city youth make healthy choices. The facilitator was Industrial and UX Designer Jim Couch. A City of Rochester Recreation Center was the headquarters for this Blitz. 36 participants.

SENIOR WALKTHROUGH/PORTFOLIO WALK/
SHOWCASE CREATOR AND COORDINATOR/COMMITTEE MEMBER

I started this annual event, whose name has changed several times since its inception. This is an one-day celebration of Graphic Design senior work that is open to the public, friends, family, alumni and prospective employers. The event is held in in the University Gallery in the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at RIT.

PROJECT M SCHOOL OF DESIGN GOWNTOWN INTERDISCIPLINARY DESIGN BLITZ COORDINATOR/FIRST ANNUAL EVENT

October 2-4, 2014
I had been interested in starting an annual interdisciplinary collaborative design blitz for RIT for a number of years to create a greater sense of community in the School of Design. I contacted John Bielenberg, AIGA Medalist and Founder of Project M, to see if he would be interested in coming to RIT to facilitate a blitz with the School of Design. He and an RIT Graphic Design alumnus, Ryan Clifford, served as the facilitators for the blitz, which was held at RIT and the Rochester Brainery. The prompt encouraged students to find ways to connect the RIT suburban campus to the City of Rochester. There were 37 participants for this first annual event.

Several of my School of Design colleagues and I regularly serve as guest critics in each others’ classes. I have served as a guest critic in classes led by Carol Fillip, Patti Lachance, Chris Lyons, Nancy Bernardo, Lisa Mauro, Kelly Murdoch-Kitt and others.

In addition, I have demonstrated Calligraphy in Sarah Thompson’s Medieval Art History classes for several years, and in Nancy Bernardo’s Typography classes.
I regularly visited Kris Holmes’ Type Design classes as a guest critic. In addition,
